Peewee Longway Enters Federal Plea Deal in Fentanyl and Firearms Case

Atlanta-based rapper Peewee Longway agreed to a federal plea deal on May 6, resolving a five-count indictment charging him with drug trafficking and firearms offenses stemming from a September 2024 arrest in Georgia [1]. Under the agreement, prosecutors will recommend a sentence of no more than 14 years, and the defense agreed not to seek a term below 10 years, setting a negotiated sentencing range of 10 to 14 years [1]. U.S. District Court sentencing is scheduled for July 9 [1].

Longway's September 2024 arrest followed a search of his Atlanta studio, where authorities recovered approximately 3,000 fentanyl pills, multiple firearms, and evidence of methamphetamine trafficking [1]. Federal charges were brought by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia. The five-count indictment carried the potential for significantly greater exposure than the negotiated range, making the plea agreement a material concession by both sides. Drug and firearms charges of this type are prosecuted under federal statutes including 21 U.S.C. § 841, governing controlled substance distribution, and 18 U.S.C. § 924(c), which imposes mandatory consecutive sentences for firearm use during drug trafficking offenses.

The plea deal resolves the most contested elements of the case before trial, eliminating the government's need to establish quantity and intent before a jury and giving Longway a defined sentencing ceiling. The Northern District of Georgia has pursued an active docket of fentanyl-related prosecutions in recent years, consistent with broader federal enforcement priorities around synthetic opioid trafficking. The presence of both fentanyl and methamphetamine, combined with multiple firearms in a recording studio setting, placed this case at the intersection of the district's drug and weapons enforcement priorities.

Sentencing on July 9 will allow the presiding judge to accept, reject, or modify the parties' agreed recommendation. Federal judges retain full discretion at sentencing even under binding plea agreements, and the court will review a presentence investigation report before imposing any term. Longway faces a federal prison sentence within or potentially outside the agreed range depending on the court's application of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and any applicable mandatory minimums tied to the firearms counts.
