Illinois Jury Convicts Quincy Man on All Four Firearms Counts

An Adams County, Illinois jury convicted Dyrece T. Knaff II on four counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm following a September 2025 shooting that sent two victims to the hospital with gunshot wounds [1]. The jury returned its verdict on May 1, 2026, after deliberating for nearly five hours [1]. The case drew local attention in part because Knaff had been briefly released before trial under Illinois's speedy trial statute [1].

The four counts submitted to the jury comprised two Class X felony charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and two Class 1 felony charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm at another person [1]. The jury found Knaff guilty on all counts [1]. Judge Charles Burch presided over the proceedings in Adams County Circuit Court in Quincy [1].

Sentencing was initially scheduled for July 1, 2026, but was delayed by one week [1]. The Class X felony counts carry mandatory minimum sentences under Illinois law, which constrains the court's discretion at sentencing. Defense counsel Andrew Schnack represented Knaff at trial [1].

No post-trial motion practice or appellate filings are reported in available sources as of publication.
